GIS Specialist, City of North Miami, Florida

May 2005-July 2007

Co-coordinated all GIS activities at the City of North Miami:

  • Fiscal Impact analysis for city annexation proposals
  • Built and maintained a network based crime analyst program, allowing police officers to log on, select and map crime incidents across the city, updated with the latest crimes every 15 minutes
  • Developed various City webpages:
  • Developed customized GIS applications (i.e. Property Info Look up program for Planning Department, allowing users to find out zoning, CDBG & CRA eligibility, etc. for any addresses in the city)
  • Created, and updated GIS data layers (aerial image mosaics and feature datasets) and integrating them into an organized GIS

 

GIS Programmer, Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center, University of Florida

Jan. 2003 – May 2005
Responsible for programming GIS applications:

  • A GIS habitat modeling application for the endangered species of South Florida
  • Building an Urban Growth modeling program for Palm Beach and Marin Counties

 

GIS Officer, The London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Dept. of Environmental Health, United Kingdom

Oct. 2002 – Dec. 2002
Responsible for re-organizing and promoting the use of GIS for a local government authority in East London, UK. Duties involved:

  • Creating GIS Layers for the European Union Biodiversity Action Plan
  • Identifying green areas of East London by classification of remotely sensed imagery using Erdas Imagine
  • Running GIS training workshops
