North Miami Business Workshop A Success

On Thursday, March 10, Dynamic CDC in conjunction with the North Miami CRA headed by Mr. Tony E. Crapp, Sr. Exec. Dir. North Miami CRA, held its first 2011 Successful Small Business Banking Workshop at the Gwen Margolis Community Center.  The workshop panel consisted of three local bankers (Blanca Cobo, VP Branch Mgr., Banco Popular; Manny Gonzales, Assit. VP Store Mgr., TD Bank; and Ashaki Bronson, VP, Bank Atlantic) also making a presentation was Althea A. Harris, Asst. Dir., SBA.  Mayor Andre Pierre gave the welcoming remarks and Councilman Scott Galvin and Ron Welsandt, Exec. Dir of the North Miami Chamber of Commerce were in attendance. 

The purpose of the workshop was to provide business related information on Small Business programs available through the North Miami CRA and the SBA.  The local bankers introduced their respective banks and talked about their small business and commercial services.  The workshop drew many existing local small businesses and some new startups.  The majority of those in attendance were pleased with the presentation.  According to Luis DeRosa, Business Developer, “Small Businesses are the back-bone of America, particularly in middle-class and working neighborhoods, like North Miami, where information gathering is crucial to the success of a small business.”  These are the people that are creating the jobs in the community and that end up contributing to the City’s tax base.
